![]() ![]() But due to the fact that it is a standalone simulator, PSX dictates the way it interacts with the simulated environment. The focus of PSX (and PS1) has always been an accurate technical representation of the 744 flight deck and all its systems. PSX is a stand-alone sim while PMDG, Majestic and FSLabs are Add-Ons for a simulator which has never been designed for the way it is now used by flightsimmers all around the world. They are just two completely different simulators and they are also aiming for a different market. I think we should better refrain from a PSX vs. And I hope to do the same with the 320.Īnd as always, one thing I appreciate the most about PSX is this forum and the overall quality of the debates and interventions. I don't pretend that I am type rated in a Q400 thanks to majestic software (nor do I pretend to be 747 rated.) but I've learned tons of things in this add on with the help of payware videos that I would never have learned otherwise. Now, for someone who owns PSX, I don't really see a reason to buy another less realistic 747.īut even if I wish they were made by Hardy with the associated quality, I don't regret spending money in other products (well, not all of them !). ![]() So until someone comes with a better example I don't think there is a better liner sim that I could buy.īut for people like me who are curious to learn about different aircraft, I guess that is the only thing PSX will never be able to offer. I think we all agree here that PSX is without a doubt the best airliner sim overall that is available to the general public.Įven though it has a few missing "convenience" features that are available in P3D or X-Plane ("live" winds aloft for example), none of them are critical. Honestly, as other pointed out, better use FSX / P3D or XP for the visuals only, and the rest is playground. and problems in the blending of the simulations ( external / core ) like those users report when using even top products like the Q-400 or the recently released FSLabs A320. įorget about anything not using an external FDM in FSX / P3D, and even then, you'll have a lot less realistic weather simulation no matter what top add-ons you use. All so so so poor when compared to what PSX provides. Notice the "reactions" of the aircraft to control inputs, throttle. severe turbulence ( windshear too ), and all of the items that would make it a really challenging landing in PSX ( as far as I recall since it's been a long time I used it anyway. The following video, apart from the rough discourse used ( for those who can understand Portuguese )., pretty much shows how poorly things are "rendered" in FSX / P3D with even a "top" add-on like the PMDG 747. and therefore it's a good thing to have a choice! In the end it all depends what experience you are looking for in a simulation I guess. Some of their competitors offer products that have a better price/quality ratio I think. The price point, especially for the P3D version is also becoming excessive in my opinion. :/Īlthough I'm sure the newly released PMDG 747 addon is a very nice addition to the FSX based platforms I would not expect too much from it from a system point of view, especially compared to PSX. only to discover upon release there were errors overlooked in the simulation of much more important and relevant systems like the autothrottle and master caution system. Most people commenting on that post on the PMDG forum seemed in awe and amazed. I remember posts from mr Randazzo before release of their 737 boasting about their simulation of the hydraulic fluid heatup and expansion in the tanks that would change your flightsim experience?! ![]() with each and every release the PMDG marketing machine always gets potential customers pumped up so I would take statements like the one quoted above with a grain of salt. ![]()
